Today, we're sad to announce that we're closing this WXYC blog. It's always been a running journal of the culture of our radio station, as well as a place for discussion. It will remain here, for posterity's sake, but from here onwards, there won't be any new posts.
Don't worry though! We've been keeping multiple blogs for a while, now, and we'll still be keeping our internet presence up at wxyc.tumblr.com. It's trendy, yes, but it fits our needs in an online space and our audience. Head on over and check out Toothache & Son of Salami's set on the air.

WXYC circa 1984
28 years on, we still have Bill Burton, we still get awkward phone calls, and we still have Kate Bush featured artist programs.
WXYC: progressive radio that doesn't change.
Start 2 minutes in.

The DJs' Tops of 2011
First of all, big ups to Pat for organizing these year after year. At the end of the year, the DJs are asked what releases defined their year (new, reissues, comps, EPs, whatever). This year we gathered 64 reponses. These individual, numbered lists are given point values (Each DJ's #1 album gets 20 points, #2 album gets 19, #20 gets 1 point). Pat compiles them and, in a yearly Thursday Night Feature, announces the top 20 on air and plays selections from them. Although this TNF has passed, you can still see the top 20 AND the extended list *AND* take a gander at the review for the #1 right here.
If you can forgive my shoddy camera, you can click the thumbnail (hehe) for a giant pic with slightly more legible writing.
